On Sunday, January 27, Tesla CEO Elon Musk tweeted a picture of himself wielding a massive gun with the caption:

“Host meme review?”

Meme Review is a segment on PewDiePie‘s YouTube channel in which he shares the latest memes and gives his opinions about them. Numerous YouTubers responded to this tweet, including Jacksepticeye and Mr. Beast – who offered Musk $5 and to buy a Tesla as compensation for hosting meme review. In the replies to this tweet, fans reacted with glee, expressing their excitement at the potential for a Meme Review episode starring Elon Musk.

PewDiePie responded enthusiastically, asking Musk to “please host,” suggesting that an Elon Musk episode of Meme Review will happen. It has been suggested that Elon Musk hosting Meme Review would help PewDiePie “defeat” T-Series by remaining the most subscribed to YouTube channel in the world.

This is not the first time Mr. Musk has tweeted about memes or become the subject of ones. This tweet is yet another instance of Musk’s social media presence diverging from typical CEO business.

The image of Elon Musk holding the gun has been widely memed, with some variations applauding him for being cool and others making fun of him for being cringey. It’s unclear whether he is truly a meme fan or if his apparent interest in memes and YouTube is more of an attempt to gain publicity and appear relatable online.
