TikTok’s new Milkshake routine is a sexually suggestive routine that sees creators body rolling while moving their hand down their body and towards their pelvic bone. Quite a few videos take the trend further and mime choking.
These videos lean towards the TikTok subculture called #FreakTok, which is marked by NSFW content, sex tips, and sexually suggestive text.
These videos are performed to Bby Kodie’s “Milkshake” which sample Kelis’ 2003 hit track of the same name. The routine is a popular one with over 259,000 videos linked to the audio. The trend began growing in popularity in early January.
There are some videos that are more comical in nature because parents, significant others, friends, or teachers walk-in on someone while they are performing the choreo.

Regardless, parents and children should be forewarned of the dangers of sharing potentially suggestive material on the internet. TikTok trends have landed teens on NSFW and porn sites before, like the “Goodbye Feder” TikTok trend. It featured mostly young girls transitioning from a selfie-style video to sexually suggestive positions, typically bent over with their head down and rear-end facing up.
As of Feb. 1, BuzzFeed News advised those who plan to take part in the #SilhouetteChallenge — which is marked by users washing their silhouettes in a red filter so the visual display is only an outline of the poster’s body, not what they may or may not be wearing — should be cautious of internet trolls who are removing the filters (and teaching others how to do so) so they can reveal more details in the video.
Others have begun cautioning creators on TikTok.
