The Brief: In the wake of a global pandemic and social distancing, some soon-to-be newlyweds have figured out that they can fulfill their dream wedding fantasies virtually through Zoom.
DEEP DIVE
The Coronavirus has not stopped people from eloping with each other. Since no one can attend large gatherings like a wedding ceremony, eager couples are still going on with their dream weddings but in a more high-tech fashion.
Through Zoom’s platform, people are still saying “I do” in front of their extended family and friends. Even though many couples have chosen to postpone their weddings, some have taken the opportunity to still go through with one of the most important days of their lives.
On Instagram, many newlyweds have also chosen to live-stream their weddings for people to witness and maybe even shed a tear at. #ZoomWedding has over 1,000 uses on Instagram and can be searched all over Twitter. Couples are refusing to cancel their weddings so apparently Zoom or Instagram has become the best alternatives for their big day.

I officiated my sisters wedding via zoom, today. It was a joy to bring this love to people. In person would have been better, but times like these need to see love like this #zoomwedding pic.twitter.com/l61RJrNQjr

We would not let 1,800 miles of distance get I the way of watching my sister get married, thank you Zoom! I will say it was weird wearing something other than sweatpants #zoomwedding #AllDressedUpWithNowhereToGo pic.twitter.com/KHOo6ILiOV
