COVID-19 up-ended high school and college graduations and other year end celebrations like dances and chances to for students to sign each others’ yearbooks. But, there is still a way for teens to receive a high school superlative on TikTok. The “Yearbook Superlative” effect is growing on TikTok, having popped up on the app within the last week. Creators are reacting to their randomly assigned superlative to the song  “Moving Right Along” by Muppets and Friends Little Apple Band. There are currently over 50,000 videos linked to the audio and 171,000 videos linked to the “Yearbook Superlative” effect.

Popular creator @Muslimthicc posted her reaction to receiving “Best Hair,” the catch being she wears a hijab. The video captioned “RIGGED” amassed over 354,700 likes and 1 million views after it was posted on May 11.

Another top creator, Caroline Carr (@yeahimcaroline), uploaded a video of her superlative on May 10. She received “Most Likely To Catfish.” her video received over 81,000 likes and 337,000 views.

Many TikTokers hopped on the trend. Some added their own twist, like @ab.is.not.real. He reacted to Carr’s video with his superlative video, captioned, “See you on MTV.”
