Competitive gaming, otherwise known as eSports, puts a very real high-stakes spin on standard video game playing. Competitors often battle head-to-head in multiplayer team-based games, often for prize pools ranging in the millions. eSports has become a multi-million dollar industry, expecting to enter the multi-billion mark as early as 2020.

In 2014, over 205 million people either watches or played in eSports. That audience alone jumped up to 380 million so far in 2018, with numbers anticipated to ascend as time goes on. Some of the most popular eSports game titles are Overwatch, League of Legends, Dota 2, and Fortnite.
