The Brief: Travis Scott performed a live concert as a virtual giant in Fortnite for its players to watch while everyone is in quarantine.

On Thursday, April 23rd, Travis Scott conducted a live performance on Fortnite’s gaming platform in which over 12 million people tuned in. These record-breaking numbers surpassed Marshmello‘s live performance that exceeded 10 million viewers worldwide. The Cactus Jack and Fortnite collaboration included a 15-minute “Astronomical” concert of Travis Scott’s Astroworld that displayed Travis Scott as a larger than life figure.

The worldwide event was fueled by Epic Games and their partnership with the world-renowned Houston rapper. Now, Fortnite players can purchase Travis Scott’s virtual gear for their own customized gaming characters. There were four other airdates that occurred for people who lived in different timezones. Fortnite’s platform debuted a preview of “The Scotts” which is a new musical collaboration between Kid Cudi and Travis Scott.
