The Running Man Challenge of the mid-2010s is experiencing a resurgence on TikTok. The challenge consists of a shuffle dance move that resembles running in place performed to the song “My Boo” by Ghost Town DJs. The dance was popularized in 2016 by Maryland basketball players Jared Nickens and Jaylen Brantley and went viral on Vine and other social media platforms.
Four years later, some TikTokers are trying to bring this challenge back to the forefront, sharing their own versions with the hashtag #RunningManChallenge. At the time of writing, videos associated with the hashtag have been viewed over 48 million times on the app.Β
