The #AlbumLookAlike trend on TikTok started in February 2020 and rose to popularity in late April. Videos are set to a remix of the jazz number “Kathy’s Waltz” by Dave Brubeck. The remix is a signature song of YouTuber jxmyhighroller who is known for his basketball videos.

Album look-alike TikTok videos set up a joke in which the punchline is the name of a song or album. Creators recreate versions of album art at home and then overlay an image of the actual album cover at the end of their videos.

At the time of writing, over 335,000 videos have been made with variations of the jxmyhighroller audio clip, and videos associated with the hashtag #AlbumLookAlike have been viewed over 34 million times on TikTok.
