A clip of singer Madison Beer claiming she was supposed to be a part of Ariana Grande’s November 2018 nostalgia-filled music video for “Thank U, Next” has resurfaced on TikTok and creators are using it to make fun of situations where they felt left out or rejected.

The clip, which traces back to December 2018, featured Beer among fans, saying, “I feel, I hate saying this, because then everyone on Twitter is like ‘You’re lying, I hate you.’ I was supposed to be in the video. I was in Miami. She told me the whole concept and was like, ‘Yeah, it’s going to be this whole Mean Girls theme.'”

On June 21, user @Lemonead shared the clip using TikTok’s green screen effect. According to the comments section, many TikTokers and YouTubers  have come to think Beer was not telling the truth. Regardless, TikTok is using the audio as means to poke fun at situations where they used an excuse to make up for being rejected or excluded. At the time of publication there are over 9000 videos associated with the sound.

@Miniavocadotoast’s video of a fish that didn’t get the lead role in Finding Nemo received over 631,000 likes and was viewed over 2.2 million times.
