In February 2018, political commentator and comedian Steven Crowder set up a table at Texas Christian University with a sign that read “Male privilege is a myth. Change my mind.”

Crowder, who was there to incite conversations and arguments in search of footage for his YouTube channel, inadvertently became a meme. A Twitter user posted a photoshopped version of Crowder’s initial picture, with a blank space before “change my mind.” After that, the meme took off as a format for people to express their often humorous controversial opinions.
