Home quarantine has found many in their sweats, surrounded by snacks, and basically living in a blanket.  As a result #BlanketLife videos are trending on TikTok. The videos, set to “Flight Of The Bumblebee” by Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov, are marked by TikTokers “finally” leaving their room and running around their homes with their blanket swirling around them. At the time of publication, there are over 2300 videos using the sound “Flight Of The Bumblebee” and over 40 million videos under the hashtag #BlanketLife. The number is increasing quickly, with the top ranked videos reaching millions of views.

The earliest #BlanketLife video using the sound “Flight Of The Bumblebee” appears to have been posted by user @Jackmanthous on April 4. The video captioned, “When my depression blanket trails behind me on my way to the fridge,” features him running down the stairs with his blanket billowing around him. The video is also juxtaposed with snippets of Cinderella fleeing the ball before the clock strikes midnight. The TikTok video garnered over 2.2 million views and 445,500 likes.

TikTokers quickly adapted the trend. User @Pleaseletmetouchyoursock’s video, captioned, “Me leaving my room for the first time in two days for mac and cheese,” was posted on April 7 and already amassed 9 million views and 2.1 million likes.

Some users have put their own spin on the trend, like user @Libramonte, who poked fun at Harry Potter. “Every professor at Hogwarts runnjng [sic] in the corridors,” reads the on-screen text. The video received 657,300 views and over 141,100 likes.

One user’s furry friend even got in on the action. “Leaving my room to eat my second meal of the day and then returning to my bed,” captioned the video featuring a pug.
