In the days leading up to the election, as well as during the ongoing count towards the final results, TikTokers have shared memes around the notion that America will erupt into a civil war between Trump and Biden supporters depending on the outcome. A shared sentiment around much of the nation is that the country is divided. Americans are preparing for eruptions of violence, with owners of public buildings and shopping centers boarding up their buildings in metropolitan areas.
Gen-Zers are doing what they do best on the app and that’s poke fun at the situation. Black TikTokers have put a their spin on the trend, leaning on the minority group’s history of unfair treatment and unequal opportunity in the United States.
