The Brief: Queen Elizabeth billboard memes photoshop a COVID-19 PSA billboard featuring the Queen.

DEEP DIVE
On April 5, Queen Elizabeth II addressed the United Kingdom in a video about the COVID-19 pandemic. Because she wore a green dress in the video, memes circulated with her dress photoshopped to feature a variety of eccentric backgrounds. The Queen was also featured on a billboard in Piccadilly Circus London with the quote “We will be with our friends again; we will be with our families again; we will meet again.” Meme-makers took this as another opportunity to finesse their photo editing skills, this time in Queen Elizabeth billboard memes.

These memes change the words on the billboard to feature a variety of comedic, absurd, or disheartening messages, rather than the Queen’s actual quote. Similar to Bloomberg billboard memes, it seems that the internet couldn’t resist the opportunity to photoshop a prominently placed billboard from a well-known public figure.
If the Queen had a stronger stance against simping:
Don’t do it from dankmemes
This meme references rumors and jokes about Queen Elizabeth being immortal.
For those who were worried about April being the worst month of 2020, watch out for May!
God save us all from memes

“Hell is hot, don’t be a thot.”
