The Brief: On March 8th, celebrate International Women's Day with these memes and social media posts honoring the value and achievements of women around the world and throughout history.

DEEP DIVE
March 8th is International Women’s Day: a day to celebrate women around the world and draw attention to the issues that they face. Although nothing can replace IRL advocacy, social media can be a great way to publicly express support for women and feminism. We’ve curated a selection of International Women’s Day memes for 2020.
#IWD2020 #EachforEqual #InternationalWomensDay2020
The hashtags #InternationalWomensDay2020, #EachforEqual, and #IWD2020 are all being used to share posts about this year’s International Women’s Day.
According to the United Nations, this year’s theme for International Women’s Day is “I am Generation Equality: Realizing Women’s Rights.” This year is the 25th anniversary of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action: a plan for the empowerment of women and girls around the world.

From @DudetteWithSign:
Shell Oil’s She’ll Promotion
On March 6th, a headline started circulating online about Shell having a campaign for International Women’s Day that included temporarily renaming Shell to “She’ll.” There is some debate as to whether or not this is a hoax, but multiple sources reported that at least one gas station in San Dimas, CA will be adding apostrophes to their signs. Either way, it inspired a number of comedic riffs and reactions.
