The Brief: BTS's j-hope and Becky G made a remake of the song "Chicken Noodle Soup," inspiring a TikTok dance challenge #cnschallenge.

DEEP DIVE
Just days after joining TikTok, BTS has started a viral dance challenge. The Chicken Noodle Soup challenge or the #CNSchallenge invites people to try a dance routine featured in the music video for “Chicken Noodle Soup” by j-hope and Becky G. At the time of writing, the music video has received over 15 million views on YouTube. The song includes verses in English, Korean, and Spanish.
The “Chicken Noodle Soup” song and dance are part of a long legacy of dance moves and music that originated in Harlem. j-hope and Becky G’s version is a remake of a 2006 song by Webstar and Yung B with iconic dancing by Bianca Bonnie.
back to “chicken noodle soup;” the chicken noodle soup dance itself came from within harlem as a modernized offshoot of the harlem shake also often performed at rucker park (a legendary site in harlem). here’s a video of folks doing it from 2006:https://t.co/rwnPPoFN8G pic.twitter.com/v7s24wAvkU

While the song and dance are at the center of this trend, it’s also about chicken noodle soup. Some videos, memes, and buzz about “Chicken Noodle Soup” focus on the soup itself – just in time for fall.
