Wendy’s Roast
The fast-food chain Wendy’s has been flexing its meme literacy on Twitter, creating #NationalRoastDay with their epic roasts. Its Twitter bio reads “We like our tweets the same way we like to make hamburgers: better than anyone expects from a fast food joint.”
On Jan. 5, 2019, Wendy’s Tweeted “It’s go time! You want the roast? Then let’s go! #NationalRoastDay,” prompting people to reply so that Wendy’s would roast them. Roasting refers to dragging someone or to playfully but harshly insult someone or something. This tweet has gone viral with Wendy’s sharp and devastating roasts, shade thrown, tea spilled, and wigs snatched.
