For years, author J.K. Rowling has been revealing new insights about Harry Potter canon. Some fans are happy to learn details about their favorite characters while others are upset that Rowling seems to be adding and changing things in interviews and on Twitter, instead of actually writing them into her books.

Some people have accused Rowling of being “fake woke” for claiming, for example, that Dumbledore is gay or that Hermione could have been black. Most critics of these retroactive changes are not upset with the inclusion of LGBTQ+ and characters of color. Rather, they are disappointed in Rowling’s choice to make these claims after-the-fact instead of including diverse characters in her books as complex characters.

With this backlash have come amusing memes in which people imagine J.K. Rowling making outlandish and often NSFW claims about Harry Potter characters, places, and things. These memes became particularly popular after a recent interview in which Rowling stated that Dumbledore and Grindelwald had an “incredibly intense” and “sexual” relationship.

The most common iteration of this Tweet format reads “nobody:” followed by J.K. Rowling saying something like “Dobby threw the first brick at Stonewall.” The idea is that J.K. Rowling is sharing graphic details about Harry Potter characters without anyone asking or prompting her to.
