While 2020 has had a few ups and many, many downs, it appears like there is one more pro for people of the African diaspora. According to a Twitter user, Black people will unlock their “real DNA” on Dec. 21.

This claim was made in a Twitter thread after a user questioned why America encountered so many issues trying to handle the spread of COVID. One individual responded by saying the government has a history of being deceitful to its citizens and probably has ulterior motives. This may have been a reference to the Tuskegee Study which tested syphilis in Black men for 40 years without ever telling them their diagnoses or providing proper (or sometimes any) treatment at all.

When others questioned what the government’s motives could be, another user said: “As black people, genetically we are stronger and smarter than everyone else, we are more creative, on December 21 our Real DNA will be unlocked and majority will be able to do things that we thought were fiction… they wanna make us average.”

There is no truth to this statement, however Black Twitter had no problem creating numerous memes about what could happen on Dec. 21.

There were also many hotep memes.

Some hoped for specific talents and skills.

And already mocked those who won’t receive them.

Others poked fun at those who may not be able to fully power-up.

And a few were a little skeptical.
