Due to theΒ  Coronavirus pandemic, month-long celebrations like LGBTQ+ Pride Month will be celebrated in non-traditional ways this year. In the United States, Gay Pride parades in major metropolitan areas such as New York City, Los Angeles, and San Francisco have been canceled to avoid any risk of COVID-19 spreading. Memes serve as a fun way to celebrate Pride Month 2020 digitally.

Although the global pandemic has impeded the in-person celebration of Pride Month, there will be a nationally- televised event on ABC News Live that will feature major political figures and queer trailblazers. On June 28, New York City will be hosting a virtual event that will be broadcasted on local television and available for streaming throughout the country.
