What’s New On TikTok

In June 2020, the sides of TikTok grew in prominence as they differentiated themselves from each other and interacted via feuds and spoofs. Subcommunities include Alt TikTok, Straight TikTok, Frog TikTok, Beans TikTok, and more.

The summer of 2020 was also dominated by the app becoming more explicitly a space for activism as Black Lives Matter activists found ways to make their voices heard within the algorithm, sharing an increasing amount of content directly related to social and political movements.
