The Brief: The #SlowWalkChallenge consists of TikTokers walking in place at a very slow speed to Masego and FKJ's "Tadow."

DEEP DIVE
Just about everything looks better in slow-motion, like fight sequences in movies and party scenes in music videos. TikTokers are taking their own stab at strutting their stuff in slow-mo as part of the #SlowWalkChallenge. These videos consist of creators walking in place at a normal pace and then attempting to walk at a much slower speed, as if the TikTok video was plucked right out of a movie. TikTokers typically wave, wink, or smile coyly at the camera while taking part in the #SlowWalkChallenge.
These videos are performed to “Tadow” by Masego and FKJ. There are over 813,000 videos linked to the audio. The associated hashtag #SlowWalk has over 183.5 million views while #SlowWalkChallenge has garnered over 17.3 million views. This trend began growing in popularity in late June 2020.
One of the most popular takes on the trend is by @lankylan. His slow walk was viewed over 22 million times and received over 4.3 million likes.

Many creators have put a special twist on the trend, like @Nene_la_shiro who captioned his video, “When u see that bih you don’t like, but you’re phony.” He slowed down a grimace before waving in and then proceeded to walk away at a regular speed.

Celebrities even took on the challenge, including DJ Marshmello and actor Shay Mitchell.
