TikTokers are poking fun at the times they’ve disturbed their sleeping mothers while goofing off. These videos are performed to a cover of Shaggy’s “It Wasn’t Me.” These videos began rising in popularity in late November. There are over 163,000 videos linked to the sound.

The audio traces back to an Oct. 5 TikTok by @funnyboy_mal. It poked fun at his sibling goofing off in the bathroom. He then bursts in and asks his sibling what is their problem. It garnered over 686,000 likes, 3.3 million views, as well as a ton of comments surrounding his use of the word “retarded” in the on-screen text.
The audio became a viral hit and was then used by TikTokers joking about waking up their moms while playing with their friends and cousins in the middle of the night.
Creator @Vincentmarson’s video is one of the most popular takes, receiving over 9.3 million likes and 39.6 million views.
