Some scientific studies have attributed beauty to people with the most symmetrical faces in the world, and TikTokers are basically testing out that theory using TikTok’s “Mirror Reflection” effect set to Estelle’s “American Boy” featuring Kanye West.

The trend is marked by TikTokers filming what their face would like if it was perfectly symmetrical before showcasing what their face looks like once the effect is gone.

The trend began growing in popularity around April 25. Since then, the trend has been attempted by Lizzo and popular creators Loren Gray, Avani Gregg, and Addison Rae Easterling.

Lizzo and her mother put their own little twist on the trend, with an unexpected ending. The video of Lizzo’s mom was uploaded on April 26 and received over 422,000 likes and 1.6 million views.
