The Brief: Game of Thrones fans were shocked to see a plastic water bottle left on set in the fantasy show's series finale.

DEEP DIVE
*Warning: Spoilers Ahead*
Winter has come and gone.
Game of Thrones stans have been to hell and back this season. Only a month ago, HBO kicked off the eighth and final season of the fantasy favorite based on George R.R. Martin’s book series. Last night, the series reached its culmination and the fan response was… less than fire.
There has been a lot of discussion amonst fans regarding the final season’s lack of consistency. Two weeks ago, fans went wild after seeing a coffee cup left on set. Last night, during perhaps, the show’s most anticipated episode, people were quick to point out ANOTHER forgotten beverage: a plastic water bottle.
So Sam had a plastic water bottle in the final scene where the heads of houses debated and made Bran king. pic.twitter.com/ALHSKb0bne

The memes took off from there.
Let's all clap for the sponsors of this season

THE WATER BOTTLE.
THIS IS NOT EVEN FUNNY ANYMORE.
We’ve had a coffe cup, a cameraman, sneakers, Jamie two handed, Drogon flying alone over KL and now a water bottle.

While it seems fans were willing to let the Starbucks cup slide, they were less forgiving about the water bottle.

I didn’t believe the water bottle, because I was woke to the idea that someone was going to photoshop something into a scene to try to go viral. Primarily because I almost did it myself.
But nope there’s fat Samwell with a bottle next to his foot 😂😂 pic.twitter.com/24quuwhYr7

Some folks roasted the characters for their need to stay hydrated…
What Sam must have looked like trying to sneak in a sip of water before that take.#WaterBottle pic.twitter.com/LuWsnI5RIW

Samwell Tarley: I wonder if my foot is blocking this water bottle.
Also Sam: I wonder if anyone even knows who the F is seated to my right.#GameOfThrones pic.twitter.com/7tl8KpQeRg— Patrick Driscoll (@P_Drizzzle) May 20, 2019
While most straight up dragged the show’s writers and crew, accusing them of blatant laziness and carelessness.

As if that wasn’t bad enough, this Twitter user pointed out a second water bottle left on screen.
It's not just there, I actually found the second water bottle next to Ser Davos. #GameOfThrones pic.twitter.com/rZHqiWmDU4

People have even speculated over whether HBO intentionally missed the water bottle with the hopes of it going viral. Mission accomplished!
They put the plastic water bottle in the episode to get you to talk about that and not the shitty episode pic.twitter.com/AXERf5oWZo

Overall, the responses to to the series’ finale have been less than favorable on social media.
Many have cited the water bottle error in last night’s episode as a prime example of the sloppily-excuted season.
Proof that the quality of this show has gone down. First Starbucks, now a water bottle. Worst ending for the best show. #GoT #DemThrones pic.twitter.com/h64CEP8eER

Game of Thrones leaving a plastic water bottle sitting there in the finale is such perfect symbolism for a show that spent the last two seasons rushing to get done and ignoring the important little details that made it great in the first place. pic.twitter.com/P4VWTuGvBM

There’s even a petition to remake Season 8 which to date, has over 1.2 million signatures.
However, if the response from the cast and crew is anything to go by, GOT die-hards most likely won’t be getting their wish.
