The Brief: Creators are making fun of the times they've run into very attractive people while dressed down in the "Me Vs. The Boys There" trend.
The “Me Vs. The Boys There” trend on TikTok sees creators poking fun at the moments they’ve been caught under dressed in front of guys they find to be attractive. These sketches are set to the Naughty Boy’s DEVolution Remix of Sam Smith’s “La La La.” There are currently over 85,000 videos linked to the sound on TikTok. These videos began growing in popularity on the app in mid-June.
Lyrics featured in “Me vs. The Boys There” TikTok videos:
I’m covering my ears like a kid
When your words mean nothing, I go la la la
I’m turning up the volume when you speak
‘Cause if my heart can’t stop it,
I find a way to block it, I go
La la, la la la la la na na na na na
La la na na, la la la la la na na na na na
Creator @aabraazyyx2’s video is a popular take on the trend. It depicted her “feeling ugly asf” while working at a shoe store. The video received over 1.2 million likes and 4.5 million views.
TikToker @ari.maseratii’s video captioned, “Me looking crazy to buy some sneakers at Foot Locker” was watched over 540,000 times and garnered over 161,000 likes.
Some videos featured celebrities, like @urmomminhee’s airport sketch. It was viewed over 3.4 million times and received over 874,000 likes.
Not all of these videos are about men, though. Another popular TikTok by @fatjuicykitty featured women she found attractive.
The trend has also taken on another life, as many have produced videos where they found themselves embarrassed or suddenly self-conscious by the other girls who were present.
