The Brief: TikTokers are reenacting the moment that turned them into social media stars in the "Do The Thing That Made You Famous" trend.
Popular TikTokers are getting nostalgic on the app and reminiscing on the moment they went viral by participating in the “Do The Thing That Made You ‘Famous'” TikTok trend. These videos are set to the song “Better Now” by Blanks.
There are over 100,000 videos linked to the sound under @gcoochie and @bingbongshowtime. These videos grew in popularity in late June 2020. These videos are typically part of a large chain that traces back to creator @dailydefaultdancson’s June 7 TikTok. The video was captioned, “Can we bring back ‘The doing the thing that made you ‘famous’ chain lol.” The video received over 36,000 likes and 146,000 views.
Viewers can spot many of their favorite creators in the large TikTok chain like, Jersey Trio’s Mattia Polibio, Challxn, Daisy Keech, Dixie D’Amelio, and Danielle Cohn.
Dixie D’Amelio blew up on TikTok after her sis Charli D’Amelio’s account began growing rapidly on the app. Charli gained hundreds of thousands of followers within months on the app.

Daisy Keech is known for her having the “first certified real booty” and made sure to show it off in her video.

@Dez2Fly’s account dominated the Dark Skin Vs. Light Skin TikTok trend marked by a hair whip and an arm motion. Of course, his video featured both of his signature moves.
TikTok duo @Iconiccpink grew tremendously on the app after the sisters created videos involving their hijabs and hair references. And, as of recent, some of their most popular videos are part of the Don’t Leave Me challenge. Her video is a combination of all three.
