Police brutality and unfair detainment by the police is being exposed more and more now that cell phone cameras are around. A young woman’s video of her detainment went viral after she began peacefully singing and dancing to her own tune once handcuffed by an officer. It is unclear when the video was originally taken, but it surfaced on the internet within the last week.

She first asks, “Why are you detaining me?” before she begins singing, “You about to lose yo’ job. You about to lose yo’ job. Get this dance. You about to lose yo’ job, ’cause you are detaining me for nothing.” In the video, the officer is visibly amused by the song, as he laughs and looks away.

The internet seemed to have the same reaction, quickly sharing the video across Instagram and Twitter, under various hashtags, including #YouAboutToLoseYourJobChallenge and #YouAboutToLooseYourJob.

Without missing a beat, the internet turned the song into a viral hit. It was created by producers DJ Suede The Remix God and iMarkkeyz, who was also behind the viral Cardi B rant turned “Coronavirus” (Remix) in March 2020. There’s also a music video that features Elmo dancing on top of the world as mugshots of the four officers that killed George Floyd whiz by, in addition to clips of Beyoncé’s “Homecoming” performance from Coachella 2018.

The remix has been viewed over 8.3 million times and received over 132,000 likes on Twitter since it was posted on June 3.

On June 5, the mix began trending, with users posting their reactions and memes with the hashtag #YouAboutToLoseYoJob.

The woman in the video, whose Instagram account is @getthisdance, reposted her viral moment on June 5 and according to the comments section, she did not go to jail and the officer did not lose his job.
