#MeToo is the hashtag related to a growing movement advocating for solidarity and justice for survivors of sexual violence.
Activist Tarana Burker first coined the term in 2006 and #metoo became a hashtag in 2017 after Alyssa Milano tweeted:
If you’ve been sexually harassed or assaulted write ‘me too’ as a reply to this tweet. pic.twitter.com/k2oeCiUf9n

Me Too has since entered the mainstream and Time Magazine’s named “The Silence Breakers” – those speaking out against sexual violence and harassment – as “person of the year.”
The Me Too movement ‘s official mission is to “give people access to healing” after they have experienced sexual violence.
