The Brief: "Karmageddon" is a name for the reckoning that beauty bloggers and YouTubers including Shane Dawson and Jeffree Star have faced due to their documented racist and problematic behavior.

DEEP DIVE
Karmageddon is a name for an eruption of consequences for problematic behavior that YouTubers Shane Dawson and Jeffree Star are facing. The name is a reference to Armageddon, which has previously been used in relation to beauty guru drama Dramageddon and Dramageddon 2.
Some of this reckoning is for inappropriate behaviors that they’ve previously been documented doing and other elements came out of Tati Westbrook’s video which alleges that Dawson and Star manipulated her into starting a feud with James Charles.
The top YouTube stars Dawson and Star are experiencing backlash including having videos demonetized and losing followers after there was renewed public scrutiny for their problematic behaviors including racism and sexualization of minors. This is part of a cycle of beauty blogger drama, which appears to be peaking with the widespread cancelation of these two stars. Whether or not “karmageddon” will live up to its name in terms of lasting consequences has yet to be seen.
