In Japan, anime refers to all animated materials, but in the United States, it refers specifically to Japanese anime. Popular Anime shows in the U.S. include Naruto, Dragon Ball Z, Pokémon, Yu-Gi-Oh!, and Sailor Moon, which are dubbed with English. Some variations of anime have been created for American audiences, but they are nowhere near as successful as the originals. Many anime and Manga (Japanese comics) have large, enthusiastic fandoms which are active on platforms including Amino and Twitter.
