The Brief: A ghost account is a social media account made solely to view other people's content.

The idea of a ghost account is that it is an anonymous way to see what’s on social media without creating content or revealing one’s identity. People make ghost accounts for a variety of reasons. They may not want others to see who they follow or what they like. Many people with ghost accounts also have primary accounts which they do use to project their public image.

Usually, a ghost account is private or has no followers. Unlike a finsta or a rinsta, people use ghost accounts only for the purpose of quietly “lurking.”
