Part of Unicode’s 13.0 emoji series, the “smiling face with tear” emoji represents someone who is happy and sad at the same time. Similar to the “tears of joy emoji,” this one resembles someone who is equally happy and sad, crying from cutting onions, or “smiling through the pain.”
