A “Finstagram” , or “finsta”, comes from a combination of the words “fake” and “Instagram”. The term refer to someone’s alternative Instagram page, separate from their primary account (called a “rinsta“, or real Instagram).

The finsta is a page where the user can post photos they wouldn’t normally post on their rinsta for various reasons- maybe it’s an unattractive photo, or a picture of themselves smoking that they wouldn’t want their boss or parents to see. Some use their finsta to showcase another side of themselves that they don’t typically broadcast on social media.

A Finstagram typically has an obscure username and significantly less followers than a person’s Rinstagram.
